NH progress report :)

Things are moving along in NH. We recently bought a very nice used oven/range that will replace the one that came with the house. Ken thought that one had been a home for mice for a bit too long, plus it had some rusty pipes that didn't seem too safe. The new stove is two years old, and has 5 burners. The one in the center can be used either as a burner or you can put a griddle on top and use it to make pancakes or grill meats. Pretty cool.

This weekend Ken's dad and his Aunt Betty came for a visit with the goal of getting a chicken coop built, or at least getting a good start on one. Dad brought some lumber and Ken purchased some from the local lumber yard as well, so they had plenty of raw materials. It's going to be smaller than the one we have in NY, which takes up a corner of the barn, but small equates to easier to clean, which is a plus. Here are a few pictures from Coop Building Day #1.

And here is the Chief Site Supervisor, Caleb:

And of course, some of the Assistant Managers keeping a close eye on things:

Today they were going to work on getting the walls up. Stay tuned for further news from our corner of the Granite State!

When I got through haying I rested and caught up a bit and seeing the warm winter conditions I ran out and bought the rough cut makings for a pole barn type chicken coop, put the post hole digger on and planted nine 4x6 posts, framed the floor and roof, supported the longer than ordered roof members into a nice four by ten front porch, the hen house is 10x10, ditched over with power and one inch water ... and then we froze up solid. I have one Icelandic ram coming soon and bought three guard donkeys. I make prayer shawls and will be weaving them soon with my Icelandic wool.

We have very high winds here and anything less than a pole barn would go East pretty quick.

I, too, have a New Holland so we have a lot in common. Cheers
